Of beer, people, and the stories that shaped Leuven
Leuven Bruist tells the story of Leuven through the lens of beer.
Join this surprising summer walking tour and discover how beer has been woven into the city’s history for centuries. From brewers and students to innkeepers, residents, and entrepreneurs, generations of people from Leuven have helped shape the city that is now known as Belgium’s beer capital.
As you stroll through the city, you’ll visit well-known landmarks and uncover hidden stories. Discover how beer has left its mark on the streets, the local economy, student life, and even the language of Leuven’s inhabitants. Rather than a dry history lesson, this is an engaging walk filled with fascinating anecdotes, familiar locations, and remarkable stories.
The tour ends at Leuven Leisure, where we’ll raise a glass and reflect on why Leuven has been buzzing for centuries. You’ll be offered a complimentary glass of our own Leuven Leisure beer, Koeieschieter, while other beverages are also available.
This special seasonal activity takes place every Saturday from 11 July to 29 August at 15:00 in Dutch, and two English-language tours are available on 18 July and 15 August at 15:30.
